Our Lady of Lourdes Shrine- Euclid, OH

Recently wrapped up a promotional video for Our Lady of Lourdes Shrine in Euclid, OH. They wanted a video to send out to people across the country who are interested in visiting the facility.

Here it is:

Island Time - 8/1/2011

Island Time

I recently returned from a trip to one of my favorite places . . . Sanibel and Captiva Islands in Southwest Florida!

The sand is white and powdery like much of the Gulf coast of Florida, but this region is filled with delicate seashells swirled with grays, browns and pinks. . . . like an artist swept their paintbrush across the tops. You can find thousands just by walking along the water's edge, but we also saw plenty of serious collectors wading out into deeper water with nets in hand to scoop up larger and harder to find shells.

There's just something about Sanibel that calms me the second I'm heading across the causeway. Maybe it's the bike paths that make the island feel so accessible or the warm people who live there. Or could it be the shops and restaurants that feel catered more towards the locals than the tourists (like the Lighthouse Cafe- truly "the best breakfast in the world" like the sign says?) Don't get me wrong- it's definitely a tourist destination, but somehow it's quieter than some of the larger cities- like Clearwater Beach (which is also beautiful but in a different way.)

Sanibel is a sanctuary to many animals too- turtle nests are protected so the eggs can hatch and the babies can swim out to sea. Even our hotel, right on the beach, had a policy that drapes must be drawn from dusk until dawn so the babies wouldn't get confused and crawl the wrong way.

There are also beautiful birds that gracefully swoop down and graze the top of the sparkling water, and if you're lucky you may just see a pod of dolphins gliding in and out of the waves.

The salty air and warm sunny days seem to slow down the passing of time. In fact, I think this may just be where the phrase "Island Time" was created . . .

A beautiful sunset!
